The Ashoka Rock Edicts at Junagadh are an important archaeological and historical site dating to around 250 BC. The large rock bears inscriptions associated with Emperor Ashoka, written in Brahmi script and Pali. The edicts reflect themes of ethical conduct, kindness, tolerance and responsible living. The site is located on the route towards Girnar Hill and forms an important part of Junagadh's ancient Buddhist heritage.
